Fire Safety Equipment
✓ There are more than 30 identified Fire Safety Installations that need to be regularly inspected and tested according to agreed standards. In particular, the Australian Standard AS1851-2012 for Maintenance of Fire Protection Systems and Equipment, which is from February, 2025, is mandatory in NSW.
✓ You must produce Maintenance records on demand by an authorised Fire Officer.
✓ A number of the Fire Safety Installations are seen as critical to the safety systems in a building. The name for these is Special Fire Services.
✓ You must record the result of testing of Special Fire Services in a Certificate of Maintenance which you must forward to the Commissioner of the Fire Service within each 12 month period following the first test.
